1 - Who is The Learning Tree?
The Learning Tree is an independent school accredited by the New York State Department of Education. We have been serving the Bronx Districts 10 and 11 and surrounding communities for over three decades, providing an excellent learning experience from Universal Pre-K through eighth grade.
Our mission is to create a life-long learner, and to prepare students for high school and then college.
Students will meet and exceed academic state standards, develop exemplary character and civic mindedness and have knowledge of our global and technological society.
2 - Why should I Adopt a Duck?
A Duck Race is a great family fun activity. Families gather to cheer on their adopted ducks.
TLT relies primarily on fundraisers and donations to support current programs and to enrich our offerings beyond the basics covered by tuition and fees.
3 - How do I Adopt a Duck / Purchase a Raffle Ticket?
- Online: click on the Adopt a Duck Link above. Follow the prompts! It’s that simple!!! Pay using a debit or credit card. You will receive an email receipt! Within 3 days you will receive an email that contains your duck and/or raffle ticket number(s). Include the child's & teacher's name in the Special Instructions box before you click the Pay Now button.
- In person ... visit the Receptionist Desk at The Learning Tree. Fill out the Adoption Paper(s) (click here to print one) and submit to Ms. Davis, along with your payment. You will receive your duck numbers shortly after paying.
- Send Adoption Paper(s) and payment with your child ... Simply fill out the Adoption Paper(s) that were sent home. Enclose the paper and payment in an envelope and send to school with your child. Your duck number(s)/raffle tickets will be sent home with your child.
- Purchasing a Raffle Ticket ... visit the Receptionist Desk, pay for the Raffle Ticket. Once you receive the ticket, fill out the information on the back of the ticket. Give the filled out part (with balloons) to Ms. Davis and you keep the part that says Keep This Coupon.
- When you order online there is no need to print adoption forms. At the completion of your online order, you will receive a confirmation of the order on your Web browser that you may print out, if you wish to keep a written confirmation of your order. After your order is confirmed, your little duckies are all primed and ready for the Race! You will receive an email, within 3 days, with your duck/raffle ticket numbers.
4 - How will I know if my duck or raffle ticket wins?
Each duck has a number printed on it that corresponds to the number on your adoption receipt. If you adopt your duck(s) online you will receive an email informing you of your duck numbers.
The winners will be announced at the race. If the winner is not present at the race they will be notified by telephone or email.
5 - Do I have to be present to win?
No! Winners need not be present to win! Winners will be announced at the event, and contacted via phone or email if they are not present.
We do, however, invite you to come cheer your ducks on at the race on Saturday, October 12th @ 12pm and enjoy a family-friendly event!
6 - Exactly where will the race and event take place?
At Bronx Park. Enter at 211th Street and Bronx Blvd. The start line is at 214th Street and the finish line is 211th Street. Follow the signs. ------>
7 - What is the schedule of events?
12:00 - Start of event
12:15 - Sing-a-long with the Bronx River Alliance Representative
12:30 - TLT's Middle School African Drummers and Dancers
12:45 - Duck Race Kick Off
Raffle Drawing - after the Duck Race
* Clown & Face Painting - during the entire event
** For Sale Concession Stand - during the entire event
8 - May I invite neighbors, family, co-workers and friends?
Of course, the more the merrier cheering on the ducks.
Before the race ask them to adopt a duck or two and purchase a raffle ticket.
